Still Waters Run Deep
The opportunity to have a solo exhibition gave me the impetus to take over the gallery space entirely for one single piece. However, within the confines of a limited area, and without a distant prospect to view the grandeur of a lengthy walk or track, I modified my plans. I couldn’t hope to provide a crack to wander along, like a never-ending rift, though that would have been exciting.

The sensation of the floor giving way under one’s feet is thoroughly disquieting. Not due to geological changes nor political differences, the experience nevertheless remains in one’s memory - perhaps like the Creation. The crack provoked thoughts of the early civilizations as with palimpsest cities built on ancient remains. The crack, split or fissure, reveals what has been buried for many years and begs questions - who are those defeated, unseen beneath the rocks? Thus the split can also represent deep rooted ideas and beliefs of different peoples.

Some of the carvings on plaster board exhibited round the room show splits used in preparations for the floor design. The drawings on MDF board show geological rifts and manmade construction, both constantly changing and hiding the landscape. The works in oils, on the other hand, were inspired by changes which one notices unavoidably jarring one's view, whether due to changing light, constructions penetrating through landscapes, or continuous rifts following the lay of the land.

מים שקטים חודרים עמוק
ההזדמנות לתערוכת יחיד , הולידה דחף להשתלט על חלל הגלריה כולו עבור יצירה אחת בודדת. אולם, היות והשטח מוגבל ואינו מאפשר מבט רחוק העוקב אחר תוואי מסוים- שיניתי את התוכניות שלי. לו יכולתי הייתי יוצרת סדק ארוך שבו ניתן לשוטט ממש, כמו שבר אינסופי. בחווייה המוצעת, יש להסתפק במבט אל תוך אחד מחללי הגלריה שהוקצו לצורך זה.
התחושה של התבקעות הקרקע מתחת לרגלינו היא מטרידה מיסודה. לא בעקבות שינויים גיאולוגיים או תנודות פוליטיות, זו חוויה שהיא חלק מהזכרון שלנו - אולי כמו הבריאה. מושג הסדק מעורר מחשבות על תרבויות מוקדמות שהותירו עדויות לקיומם בשרידים הקבורים מתחת לסדקים. הוא מעלה שאלות - מי הם המובסים, אותם תרבויות שלא שרדו, אלה שלא נראים מבעד לסלעים? הפיצול מייצג את השונות של הרעיונות והאמונות בבסיס עמים שונים.
הגילופים על גבי לוחות הגבס המוצגים ברחבי החדר, הינם חריצים ששימשו בהכנות לעיצוב הרצפה. הרישומים על לוחות ה-MDF מייצגים שסעים גיאולוגיים ובנייה מעשה ידי אדם, המשתנים ללא הרף ומסתירים את תבנית הקרקע. לעומת זאת, היצירות שנעשו בשמן, נוצרו בהשראת סדקים ופיתולים שאנו מבחינים בהם בתוך תכסית הקרקע בעקבות האור המשתנה, ובבניינים החודרים את הנופים.
