Nomi Tannhauser | נעמי טנהאוזר

Nomi Tannhauser, born in 1956, lives and works in Jerusalem.

B.A. in Graphic design from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design 1982, and M.A. in Art Education, Leeds University Extension, 2001. She is an artist and curator, founder of "Antea" Gallery for Women's art in Jerusalem in 1995. Exhibited many group and one woman shows in galleries and museums such as EIn Harod museum of art, Hanina gallery, Tel Aviv and Beit Kenner, Rishon Le'tzion. In her art work and she contends with anxieties concerning the body and making place in the world, mainly from the feminine angle. Her work is figurative, using a variety of techniques including painting, drawing, print and plasticine often in unconventional ways. Through her painting and curating Tannhauser challenges body sensations and emotional anxieties, rebels against conventions and processes them into an aesthetic experience that is subversive and destabilizing on the one hand but humorous and comforting on the other.
