דבורה ברנשטיין היא אמנית רב-תחומית ילידת ניו-יורק (1980) החיה ופועלת בירושלים. יצירתה מבוססת על עבודות קרמיקה והדפס, ובטווח שבין עבודת הנייר לעבודת החימר היא מחפשת אפשרויות לחיבורים שונים בין השתיים. באמצעותן היא בוחנת מתחים בין חורבן לתקומה והיבטים של שבירות ועוצמה – של המין האנושי, של הגוף הנשי, ושלה עצמה. ארכיאולוגיה מקומית, אמנות יהודית ואלבומי משפחה הם ממקורות ההשראה העיקריים שלה, ובאמצעות שזירה שלהם היא מציעה מבט נוקב על מצב העניינים הנוכחי בארץ ובעם.
היא בעלת תואר ראשון באמנות פלסטית מהמחלקה לעיצוב קרמי וזכוכית באקדמיה לאמנות ועיצוב בצלאל (2004), תואר שני באמנות יהודית והיסטוריה של עם ישראל ממכון שכטר למדעי היהדות (2019), ותעודת אוצרות באמנות עכשווית מטעם מכון שכטר למדעי היהדות (2022).
עבודותיה הוצגו במבחר תערוכות יחיד ותערוכות קבוצתיות, ביניהן בסדנת ההדפס ירושלים (2025); במוזיאון לאמנות יהודית בהיכל שלמה (2024); הגלריה הלבנה, מעגן מיכאל (2024); בית אריה קלנג – בית אמנים, אשדוד (2024); גלריה רוזן לעיצוב, שנקר (2023); המפעל (2022); ומוזיאון ישראל, ירושלים (2021, 2019).
בין השנים 2015–2023 הייתה חברה בצוותי האוצרות והחינוך המוזיאלי במוזיאון ישראל, שם יצרה ופיתחה תוכן עבור תערוכות, הדרכות, הפעלות, אירועים ומדיה דיגיטלית לקהלים מגוונים, והייתה עוזרת לאוצרים באגפים לאמנות וארכיאולוגיה.
Debra Bernstein (b. 1980, New-York) is a Jerusalem based multimedia artist, situated in the intersection of ceramics and print work. In her art she examines tensions between processes of destruction and renewal, as well as contemporary aspects of human strength and fragility through socio-historical manifestations of femininity. Her creative process starts with a meticulous research into visual and cultural aspects of the material culture left over by different societies who inhabited, or neighbored, the Levant throughout history. These are then intertwined with contemporary socio-political issues and visual culture, offering a poignant, sober gaze at the turmoil of our times.
Bernstein holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Department of Ceramics and Glass Design at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (2005), a Master's in Judaism and the Arts from The Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies (2019), and a Curator of Contemporary Art Certificate through The Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies (2022).
Her work has been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions, among other at the Jerusalem Print Workshop (2025); Hechal Shlomo Museum, Jerusalem (2024); The White Gallery, Ma'agan Michael (2024); Beit Arya Klang – Artists' House, Ashdod (2024); Shenkar Rozen Gallery, Ramat-Gan (2023); HaMiffal, Jerusalem (2022); and the Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2019, 2021).
As a member of the Israel Museum’s curatorial and educational teams (2015–2023) she developed content for exhibitions, tours, workshops and events; created digital media for the general public; and was Assistant Curator in the Fine Arts and Archaeology departments.
